Dartmouth Keeps Rolling With 4-0 Win Over Sacred Heart

The Big Green win their fifth straight in shutout fashion
FAIRFIELD, Conn. – Dartmouth women's soccer picked up two early goals and never looked back en route to its 4-0 win Sunday afternoon at Sacred Heart.
Erin Kawakami collected her first goal of the season, while Izzy Glennon had two scores and Michael Guptill nailed the final goal home. Glennon takes over the team lead with five goals on the year.
This is the fifth consecutive shutout victory for the Big Green (7-1-0) and sixth total clean sheet for goalkeeper Mariel Gordon. The Pioneers (4-4-1) had a two-game winning streak snapped and were shutout for the fifth time this season.   Â
"I almost felt our performance was like a donut, we started well and finished well, but we wanted to be cleaner technically in the middle of the game," said head coach Ron Rainey. "But we are excited about the result and looking forward to conference play starting next week at Brown."
Dartmouth was aggressive out of the gate and it showed with two corner kicks in the first three minutes. Kawakami got the Big Green on the board in the sixth minute after she took the ball away from the SHU keeper and found the back of the net.
Shortly after in the eighth minute, Allie Winstanley slotted the ball through two defenders to find an open Glennon who found the bottom corner of the goal to extend the lead to 2-0.
The Big Green defense kept SHU scoreless and the offense continued to light it up with Glennon scoring again in the 68th minute off an assist from Tracey Mills. Guptill then notched the fourth goal with a helper from Ellie Geier in the 88th minute to finish the job.
Ivy League play opens next Saturday at 7 p.m. with a key matchup at Brown who has a 6-1-1 record coming into the match.
