Six different goal scorers led the Big Green to the win in Miami
MIAMI, Fla. – Dartmouth women's soccer had six different scorers and recorded its most goals in a game since 2010 in its 7-0 drubbing of Florida International Sunday afternoon.
Mollie McGorisk (12', 59') found the back of the net twice for the Big Green along with Juliet Moncho (31'), Lorna MacFarlane (47'), Allie Winstanley (60'), Charlotte Esty (67') and Michael Guptill (71').
McGorsik, MacFarlane, Moncho and Guptill all scored their first career goals in the contest.
The Big Green (3-1-0) dominated the Panthers (1-4-0) in every aspect of the game. Dartmouth outshot FIU 21-7 and 14-5 on goal while generating eight corner kicks compared to only one for the home team. Mariel Gordon started in goal and came away with two saves, while Charlotte Cyr saw her first action in net and was able to stop three shots to complete the second shutout of the season.
"One of our goals was to play the same way for 90 minutes with intensity and willingness to attack and that was on display today," said head coach Ron Rainey. "Proud of how we mentally tackled today. It was great to see a lot of players get in the game and play well."
After Dartmouth started the first 10 minutes with six shots and four corner kicks, McGorisk got the scoring started in the 12th minute off an assist from Winstanley. Zoe Boocock then found Moncho for her first goal in the 31st minute to extend the lead to 2-0. FIU fired its first shot of the game in the 43rd minute, but Gordon was there to collect the save and maintain the two-goal lead at halftime.
Dartmouth increased the pressure with five second half goals. MacFarlane pocketed her first goal of the season in the 47th minute with an assist from Izzy Glennon, sparking a surge of offense from the Big Green, who scored its final four goals in a 12-minute span to run away with the victory.
The Big Green are back on Burnham Field on Thursday at 5 p.m. for a meeting with Granite State rival New Hampshire.
