
Cape Air Athletes of the Week - Rothwell & Broom

While it is cold outside, Dartmouth athletes are heating it up on the inside. Senior Cha'Mia Rothwell continues her winning ways for the women's track and field team. The Durham, North Carolina native captured crowns in the long jump and hurdles at a meet in Leverone Field House this past weekend. Across the street at Boss Tennis Center, senior Charlie Broom clinched a big victory for the men's tennis team over the University of Minnesota.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the Cape Air Athletes of the Week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as the Cape Air Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Cha'Mia Rothwell, Sr., Durham, N.C., Women's Track and Field
Cha'Mia Rothwell won a pair of events Saturday afternoon at Dartmouth's Indoor Invitational, winning the long jump and the 60m hurdles. The senior dominated the hurdles races, taking first in the prelims in 8.42 only to best that mark in the final with an 8.42 to earn the event crown and 10 points. She would go on to capture the long jump's 10 points allotted to the winner with a 5.89m leap on her final attempt of the day. He 20 points helped contribute to the Big Green's season-high 216 points and the fourth team win in as many home meets in 2019-20.
Charlie Broom Sr., Hertfordshire, England, Men's Tennis
Charlie Broom played a huge part in Dartmouth's 4-3 victory over Minnesota on Friday. The Big Green senior clinched the win at the top spot in a very close three-setter with scores of 6-4, 5-7, 7-6(7). Dartmouth is currently 8-0 on the season, its best start since going 12-0 to start the 2017-18 campaign.
