ITHACA, N.Y. – The Dartmouth women's track & field team sits seventh after one day of competition at the 2020 Ivy League Indoor Heptagonal Championship.
The Big Green have 9.5 points through five scored events. The home team from Cornell is battling Princeton for the top spot with the 37.5 points to the Tigers' 36 inside Barton Hall.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Lily Lockheart produced the most points for the Green and White on the first day, earning four thanks to a fourth-place showing in the weight throw. Her toss of 17.17m came on her fifth throw of the day.
- Cha'Mia Rothwell was fifth in the long jump with a 5.92m leap to her credit on Leap Day, good for two points in the standings.
- Two-time defending champion Julia Valetni was denied a three-peat as she finished tied for fifth in the pole vault, splitting the three points to earn one and a half as she tied Maria Siciliano from Cornell with a 3.80m.
- Lauren Sapone was sixth in the 3000m in 9:42.87, earning a point in the process.
- Anoush Krafian also earned a point in the pentathlon, finishing sixth with 3370 points.
- Rothwell will head into the final of the 60m hurdles on Sunday as the top qualifier as she ran an 8.39 in Saturday's preliminary heat. The senior is the three-time defending champion in the event.
- Two Dartmouth runners qualified in the 800m as Claire Dougherty was third in 2:12.34, while Lauren Archer took sixth in 2:14.42.
- Katie Laskoski also moved on in the 500m to the final, running a1:15.78 to take sixth.
