April 22, 2018: Men's Tennis clinches first Ivy League title in 21 years
Entering the final match of the season, the 27th-ranked men's tennis team welcomed Princeton to the Thompson Outdoor Courts with an opportunity to clinch at least a share of the Ivy League title. Dartmouth did not disappoint the local fans on hand, disposing of the Tigers, 4-1, for its first conference crown since 1997.
With the victory, the Big Green improved to 20-5 — their first and only 20-win campaign in its 120-year history — and ended the regular season on a six-match winning streak, all in league play.
Columbia, which also had a 6-1 record in in the Ancient Eight, earned a share of the title. But due to Dartmouth's 4-3 victory over the Lions one week prior, it was the Big Green that earned the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
The Big Green won the doubles point with victories at Nos. 2 and 3. Although the Tigers tied things up with a victory at No. 3 singles, sophomore David Horneffer '20 put the Green ahead at the No. 2 position, 6-4, 6-1. Senior Max Fliegner '18 then went on to win at No. 4 (6-3, 6-3) before freshman Peter Conklin '21 wrapped things up with a 6-4, 6-3 triumph at No. 6.
April 22, 2018: Two from Women's Golf earn All-Ivy League honors in the same season for the first time ever

Prior to finishing second at last year's Ivy League Championship (as written about yesterday), the Dartmouth women's golf team was laying the foundation for success the year before with two of its golfers earning a spot on the All-Ivy League Second Team. Never before in the previous 21 seasons of Ivy League women's golf had the Big Green had more than one golfer earn all-conference honors in the same season.
Senior captain Jessica Kittelberger '18 and junior Catharine Roddy '19 both made the top 10, tying for 10th at 15-over par (231), to claim their places on the second team. Kittlelberger was consistent from round to round, carding a 78-76-77 over the three days. Roddy parlayed a strong second round (73, +1) to help her achieve All-Ivy status for the second time in the co-captain's career, having made the first team the year prior. Only one other Big Green player has ever earned all-conference honors more than once, that being Laura Epstein '00, a three-time first-team honoree.
Dartmouth nearly had three All-Ivy golfers with sophomore Maddie Nelson '20 falling a stroke short of the top 10 finishers. She would go on to make the second team the following year by tying for eighth in the 2019 Ivy League Championship.
The Big Green wrapped up the tournament in fifth place with a 71-over 935, the second straight year they recorded their lowest score ever at the championship. They would do so again the following year.
