Dartmouthsports.com will be recognizing the senior student-athletes who had their spring seasons canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today's Senior … Maddie Nelson of the women's golf team.
DartmouthSports.com: What is your most memorable on-course team moment?
Maddie Nelson: The Ivy Championship in 2019 was something special. After the final round we all gathered on the 18th green to watch
Kaitlyn Lees tap in, knowing we had come in second. We all felt really proud of each other and the program as a whole. Compared to where the team was freshman year, we have come a really long way. The funniest part of it all is I wasn't even supposed to go to Ivies — I was the alternate.
DS: And your most memorable on-course individual moment?
MN: Shooting 70 at Yale my freshman year.
DS: Do you have a nickname on the team, and if so, how did you get it?
MN: Nearly everyone calls me Mads. It was easier and rolls of the tongue! Coach even embroidered it on my towel.
DS: Any hidden talents you can share?
MN: None.
DS: If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
MN: I would swap places with
Angela Zhang or Sammy [
Samantha Yao], so I could have three more years at Dartmouth.
DS: What is your favorite place on campus?
MN: Either the Green or my sorority patio on a sunny day. The first warm day of the term is especially fun because it seems like everyone is outside!
DS: What are your plans after Dartmouth (or the spring term in general)?
MN: I will be working in San Francisco at a consulting firm.
