Dartmouthsports.com will be recognizing the senior student-athletes who had their spring seasons canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Today's Senior … Morgan Ebow of the softball team.
Dartmouthsports.com: What have you been up to since returning home
?
Morgan Ebow: Since coming back home, I've been focusing a lot, of course, on classes. Between classes, a packed household, and advising appointments for my post-grad plans, I've been able to focus on training to compete in a half marathon once events are able to be held again.
DS: What is your favorite place on campus?
ME: My favorite place on campus would have to be the third floor of the Life Science Center. There's a beautiful study spot that's pretty secluded and the best kept secret on campus (up until now..whoops) so it's easy to be productive. Outside of school work, I would probably say the river (though I'm not sure that counts as "on campus") Paddle boarding and canoeing out to the rope swing is always the first move once the weather gets nice.
DS: If you could swap places with one teammate, who would it be and why?
ME: I would undoubtedly swap places with
Schae Nelson. Schae has this confidence about her in everything she does-on the field and in the classroom-and I'd love to embody that type of conviction every day.
DS: What has been your best on-field memory in your Dartmouth career?
ME: This question is hard because reflecting on my Dartmouth career, the little things were what made it so special. If I had to choose, I would say either playing against UCLA freshman year, pitching on a field I grew up watching games at, or battling against FSU junior year. Both programs are top softball schools and we put up really great fights in both games. Those were definitely the moments I look back on and think "wow, I made it."
DS: What are your post-Dartmouth plans?
ME: I recently have decided to pursue a masters in Biomedical Science and am currently in the process of filling out applications. If classes are able to be held in person, I am hoping to start this fall. If not, I'm on the lookout for virtual volunteer opportunities to fill a gap year. Eventually, the goal is medical school, but of course that's in the years to come.
DS: What is your hidden talent or something that someone might not know about you?
ME: This might be minuscule but I'm really oddly proud of my ability to parallel park. Especially when so many people struggle with it, it's so satisfying to get it in one try and you walk out of the car like an absolute BOSS.
DS: Do you have a nickname on your team? Who gave it to you and why?
ME: Most people call me "Ebow" or "Eebs" or some variation. At Dartmouth it stemmed from having multiple Morgan's on the team, so we needed a distinguisher. I've known
Tatyanah Castillo since we were little, so she calls me "Mo", which was super confusing to everyone when
Morgan Martinelli was on the team.
DS: What are you going to miss most about Dartmouth?
ME: I think I'll miss the people the most. Dartmouth brings together the most interesting and diverse minds and places them all together in a small town almost forcing them to interact in some way. It's a great environment to inspire personal growth and collaboration. Not to mention I've definitely met some people on and off the field that I hope are in my life for the long run!
Senior Superlatives:
Strongest: Loghan Thomas, pretty sure she can easily bench me...as a warm up set.
Best sense of humor: Jade Bravo
Best singer: Sophie Ausmus
Most talkative: Tatyanah Castillo
Biggest appetite: Calista Almer
Most Unique Hobby: Micah Schroder-as I'm sure everyone has said, she likes to decorate her own clothes!
Most soft spoken: Jade Bravo- the quietest ones always have the best jokes
Best dresser: I'd like to think ~me~
Most likely to become a coach: Tessa Grossman (over interims I always ask her for help/her opinion when it comes to lifting)
