Dartmouth Football Wins Fan Vote for Ivy League Game of the Year

Big Green win social media vote in top-16 moments of the 2019-20 season.
HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth football's 'Miracle in Cambridge' from Nov. 2 has been voted by fans on social media as the Ivy League Game of the Year. The Big Green emerged victorious from a bracket featuring the top-16 moments of the 2019-20 Ivy League season spanning across nine sports.
Trailing 6-3 and on their own 4-yard line with one minute left on the clock, quarterback Derek Kyler orchestrated a game-winning drive for the ages.
Kyler completed three passes for 49 yards and ran for another four to set his offense up Harvard's 43-yard line with six seconds remaining. Kyler then took the snap for the final play, eluded four pass rushers to give his receivers time to get in the end zone, and launched a Hail Mary that was batted by two defenders before being snatched out of the air and pulled in by Masaki Aerts to give Dartmouth a miraculous 9-6 win.
Dartmouth improved to 7-0 on the year and would eventually go on to secure the Ivy League title in the final week of the season . The win was also the Big Green's first at Harvard since 1996, snapping a 10-game-road losing streak.
The Big Green won the year-end social-media competition with nearly two-thirds of the vote in the final up against Princeton field hockey's victory in the national semifinal to earn a berth in the championship game. Dartmouth's run to the fan's crown was secured with head-to-head wins against Cornell field hockey, Penn squash, Princeton wrestling and finally the Tigers' field hockey team.
