Scouting Yale
Yale is 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the Ivy League under Kevin Cahill, the Joel E. Smilow '54 Head Coach of Football. The Bulldogs were the Ivy League preseason favorite, collecting 15 of 16 first-place votes, after a 9-3 season in 2025. That season included a share of the Ivy title and a first-round FCS playoff comeback win over Youngstown State.
Yale beat Holy Cross 38-28 in the opener, lost 38-25 at Cornell in the Ivy opener on Sept. 26, and beat Merrimack 41-24 in its home opener on Saturday, Oct. 3. The Bulldogs rallied from a 21-7 second-quarter deficit and outscored Merrimack 34-3 the rest of the way. They gained 476 yards and held the ball for more than 36 minutes.
Yale has won 10 straight games at the Yale Bowl. Dartmouth hosts Merrimack on Oct. 17, so the Big Green will see that opponent next.

Saunier rushed for 95 yards and two touchdowns, and Dartmouth scored 17 unanswered points in the fourth quarter.
