HANOVER, N.H. – Myles Craddock powered in a 2-yard touchdown with 4:55 remaining, and the defense came up with a fourth-down stop inside its own 20 in the final minutes as the Dartmouth football team opened Ivy League play with a 14-10 win over the University of Pennsylvania on Saturday, Oct. 3, at Buddy Teevens Stadium at Memorial Field on Homecoming Weekend.
The Big Green won for the ninth time in its last 12 games against the Quakers and improved to 15-3 at home over the past 18 games.
Grayson Saunier was nearly perfect through the air, completing 13 of 15 passes for 173 yards and a touchdown. Saunier moved into the program's all-time top 10 in career passing yards, having now passed for 3,259, which ranks No. 10 all-time. Craddock carried 21 times for 85 yards. Nick Lemon caught three passes for 56 yards, and Ky'Dric Fisher added two catches for 39 yards and a score.
Johnny Stephens led all players with 13 tackles. Cameron Best-Alston added 12, and Steve Simpkins Jr. had 10 tackles and a forced fumble. Harrison Keith recorded eight tackles and two pass breakups. Luke Armistead averaged 58.5 yards on two punts, including a 74-yarder, which now ranks #2 all-time in program history for longest punt.
Dartmouth struck first with a 13-play, 80-yard opening drive. Saunier capped it with a 16-yard touchdown pass to Fisher at 3:36 of the first quarter. Penn missed a 28-yard field goal in the second quarter, then hit a 26-yarder with 33 seconds left in the half, and the Big Green led 7-3 at the break.
