HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth Athletics Department today announced the hiring of Chelsea Goss as its associate athletics director of compliance. Goss comes to the Upper Valley after spending two years as an assistant AD for Compliance at the University of Vermont.
"We are excited to welcome Chelsea to the Big Green family," said Dartmouth Senior Associate Athletics Director for Varsity Sports Tiffani Sykes, who previously held the position and headed up the search committee. "She is uniquely qualified to support the department in this role. We are looking forward to working with her as she shares her expertise with our department."
Arriving in Burlington in September of 2017, Goss monitored personnel, amateurism, recruiting, athletic activities, eligibility and awards for 425 varsity athletes over 18 sports, duties that became increasingly important over the past year during one of the most difficult times for athletics compliance officers with the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic. She also developed and presented compliance training to all coaches and staff, providing counsel as well regarding NCAA and America East rules.
During the 2016-17 school year, Goss served as the compliance officer and Title IX Coordinator, Policy Administrator and Compliance Officer within the office of the president at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington. There she researched, wrote, and trained all employees including the Board of Trustees on university policies. Goss also conducted all Title IX investigations regarding student complaints against employees and administered trainings on Title IX and the Violence Against Women Act for all university staff, among other duties.
Goss spent a year and a half (December 2014 through June 2016) at the University of Minnesota as an assistant director of compliance in her first full-time role in compliance. She got her start in the compliance world with an internship as an athletics compliance coordinator at Eastern Washington in the fall of 2013 while attending law school at the University of New Hampshire School of Law. She returned to Durham for the spring of 2014 to work as an athletic compliance graduate assistant at UNH before returning to EWU in the fall of 2014 in her previous role.
A 2009 graduate of the University of Oregon, Goss competed on the alpine ski team, was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority and received a degree in journalism and public relations, and went on to earn her sports law certificate from UNH Law School in 2014. She competed on the Junior Olympic ski team as a youth and became a Mt. Spokane Ski Club Board Member in June of 2019. Goss has her bar license in the states of Minnesota and Washington.
Goss, née Lamberson, lives in Concord with her husband, Tyson, who is a lawyer in Laconia, and their 18-month-old son, Viggo.
