THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth men's ice hockey team opens their 2021-22 season this weekend as they play host to #15 Harvard for an ECAC and Ivy League matchup on Friday evening, followed by their first non-conference game of the season on Saturday against UConn.

SEASON OPENERS
- Since 1997-98, Dartmouth is 10-11-2 in season openers.
- This is the third straight season in which Dartmouth has squared off with Harvard in the season opener.
- In the 2019-20 season opener, the Big Green fell at #19 Harvard, 7-3. Current senior Harrison Markell scored one of the goals for Dartmouth.

LOOKING BACK AT 2019-20
- Dartmouth finished the season with a 13-14-4 overall record with a 10-10-2 record in ECAC play.
- The Big Green earned the six seed in the ECAC tournament and hosted Princeton in the first round, falling to the Tigers in two games.
- Dartmouth was stellar at home, heading into the postseason with a 9-4-2 record at Thompson during the regular season.
- The Big Green had two wins against top-10 opponents, both of which came at home. The first was a 2-1 win over #2 Cornell on December 7, while the second was a 3-2 win over #7 Clarkson on January 17.

PRESEASON RECAP
- Dartmouth played in two preseason games to prepare for the 2021-22 season.
- The first game was at Harvard on Saturday, October 16. The Crimson took the game by a score of 4-0.
- The second game was at #9 UMass, the defending national champions. The Big Green arrived in Amherst and grabbed a 3-2 win, even going up 3-0 before the Minutemen were able to score.
- Senior Jeff Losurdo and freshmen Nate Morgan and Sean Chisholm were the goal scorers for Dartmouth.

A NEW ERA IN HANOVER
- Reid Cashman was named the Koenig Family Head Coach of Dartmouth Men's Ice Hockey on June 1, 2020, making him the 22nd head coach in program history.
- Friday's season opener will be the first official game for Cashman in charge of the Big Green.
- Cashman is no stranger to the ECAC, as he was a standout player for Quinnipiac, earning All-American honors, First-Team All-ECAC honors, and was a Hobey Baker Top-10 Finalist. He also spent five years behind the bench at his alma mater as an assistant coach for three seasons and the associate head coach for two.

WHAT THEY THOUGHT
- The ECAC Hockey coaches selected the Big Green to finish 7th in the league with a total of 60 points.
- The media poll came in with Dartmouth at 8th, with Palocsik being named to the preseason all-league team.

SCOUTING HARVARD
- The Crimson enter the game ranked #15 in the latest USCHO poll and #14 in the latest USA Today poll.
- Harvard and Dartmouth squared off for their first preseason game, with the Crimson winning 4-0.
- Harvard played fellow Ivy League and ECAC Hockey member Brown in their second preseason game, taking that by a score of 8-2.
- The Crimson were picked to finish third in ECAC Hockey play this season, receiving three first-place votes. Nick Abruzzese and Henry Thrun were selected to the Preseason All-ECAC Hockey team.

SCOUTING UCONN
- The Huskies enter the game 3-3 after picking up a 5-3 win over #20 Northeastern in their latest contest.
- Jachym Kondelik leads the UConn offense with two goals and four assists through their five games so far this season. Ryan Tverberg and Vladislav Firstov lead the team in scoring with three goals apiece.
- Darion Hanson has played all but two minutes in goal this season, recording 184 saves while allowing 15 goals.
