POTSDAM, N.Y. — The Dartmouth men's ice hockey team fell to Clarkson, 3-0, in ECAC Hockey action on Saturday evening at Cheel Arena.
Dartmouth falls to 2-4-0 on the season with a 2-3 ECAC Hockey record.
Senior
Justin Ferguson made 21 saves in goal for the Big Green. Clarkson goaltender Ethan Haider recorded 27 saves to pick up the win.
A back and forth first period saw it finish scoreless, as Ferguson had 11 saves in the period to keep the Golden Knights off the scoreboard.
Clarkson got on the board late in the second period as Zach Tsekos fired a shot through the Big Green defense and into the back of the net for his seventh of the season and 1-0 lead. Jack Jacome chipped in the primary assist.
Dartmouth had a streak of 24 straight successful penalty kills, until a goal from Noah Beck early in the third period ended it. Freshman
Braiden Dorfman was sent to the penalty box for hooking, giving the Golden Knights the one-man advantage. Noah Beck had the puck at the blue line and shot it into the back of the net to extend their lead.
With 7:13 remaining, Clarkson added to their lead shortly after the Big Green had a successful penalty kill. Alex Campbell found an opening and beat Ferguson to his left.
Dartmouth had several chances to get on the board in the final minutes, including two quick shots in front of goal by freshman
Sean Chisholm and junior
Mark Gallant, but were fended off by the Golden Knights' goaltender.
Dartmouth is off until after Thanksgiving, when they travel to Providence to take on the Friars on Friday, November 26. The game will be live on NESN.
