COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Dartmouth men's ice hockey student-athlete
Hayden Stavroff has been selected to the U.S. Collegiate Selects team, one of the first six players named to the roster. Stavroff will play in the Spengler Cup in Davos, Switzerland, from Dec. 26-31, 2026.
The Spengler Cup has been held annually since 1923. In 2025, for the first time, a team of select college hockey players represented NCAA Division I hockey at the prestigious tournament. Stavroff became the first Dartmouth men's ice hockey player to be selected to the roster.
Stavroff had one of the best seasons in Dartmouth's modern history in 2025, skating in all 35 games. He led all of Division I with 29 goals and added 19 assists. Stavroff became the first Dartmouth player to win the ECAC Hockey Player of the Year award and the first to win the Walter Brown Award, given to the top American-born player in New England. He was also a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, was named Ivy League Player of the Year, and earned First Team All-ECAC, First Team Ivy League, and American Hockey Coaches Association First-Team All-American honors.
"We are proud of Hayden being selected to the U.S. Collegiate Selects roster. It is a special opportunity to play in the Spengler Cup," said
Reid Cashman, Koenig Family Head Coach of Dartmouth Men's Ice Hockey. "It will be exciting to watch Hayden compete on the international stage."
In April 2026, it was announced that the U.S. Collegiate Selects had accepted a two-year invitation to return to the Spengler Cup in 2026 and 2027. Six teams will compete in December, including the U.S. Collegiate Selects, HC Davos (Switzerland), Team Canada, HC Fribourg-Gottéron (Switzerland), HC Sparta Praha (Czechia), and HIFK (Helsinki, Finland).
The U.S. Collegiate Selects enjoyed a successful Spengler Cup debut in 2025, winning Group Cattini and earning a bye into the semifinal round with a 2-2 record. For more on the Spengler Cup, click
