THIS WEEKEND
After four straight road games and having been away from home for 25 days, the Dartmouth women's basketball team is happy to see all of you at Leede Arena this weekend when it hosts Loyola Chicago and Monmouth.
LAST TIME OUT
Carrington Washburn and
Mia Curtis led with 13 points apiece in Dartmouth's 67-44 loss to Drexel at the Daskalakis Athletic Center on Tuesday.
- Washburn went 4-for-11 (.364) in field goals, 2-for-4 .(.500) in 3-pointers and 3-for-4 (.750) from the free throw line. Curtis went 3-for-8 (.375) in FG, 1-for-4 (.250) in threes and 6-for-7 (.857) in foul shots. Also finishing in double digits was Grace Niekelski (11).
· Scoring was low in the early parts of the first quarter, but Drexel soon had the lead to head to the second with a 16-5 advantage.
· Playing in front of a crowd from her hometown of Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, Niekelski was a bright spot in the second, scoring seven points. Washburn also contributed a shot from the line and a free throw, but Drexel already had a sizeable lead at the end of the half (15-37).
· The first five minutes of the third were even: the home tea had a narrow 7-6 advantage. The Dragons had an 8-5 edge over the last five minutes to make it 52-26 heading to the final quarter.
· Dartmouth had a 6-0 run in the first 120 seconds thanks to
Isabella DiGiovanni and Curtis. Washburn went 2-for-2 from the charity stripe before time ran out (44-67).
SCOUTING THE RAMBLERS
We have been playing some teams with pretty cool mascots this year. First the Drexel Dragons. Now the Loyola Chicago Ramblers (fun fact: though they have someone dress up in a wolf costume, the rambler was originally meant to describe someone who travels frequently).
Moving on. Loyola has been doing well six games in, beating Detroit Mercy, Chicago State, St. Francis and Miami of Ohio while falling to DePaul and Northwestern. They head into Friday's game on a three-contest winning streak.
LAST TIME VS. LOYOLA CHICAGO
On Dec. 4, 2019, the Ramblers ran away with a 61-40 victory at Gentile Gym.
Anna Luce '21 led the Big Green with 13 points. Annie McKenna '20 dropped eight with seven rebounds and three assists. Asha Taylor '22 finished with seven points and five rebounds and
Elle Louie '21 had six points, eight rebounds and four assists. Four players scored in double figures for Loyola, who won the rebounding battle, 54-39.
SCOUTING THE HAWKS
Monmouth currently has a record of 2-2 but will have played one more game against Sacred Heart that had not yet happened prior to the printing of the programs.
The Hawks have had mixed results, beating Navy and Saint Joseph's while being defeated by Syracuse and Providence.
This is the first time that Dartmouth and Monmouth are meeting.
