HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's ice hockey team defeated New Hampshire, 3-1, on the opening day of the Ledyard Classic.
Dartmouth advances to the championship game, facing Boston College tomorrow evening.
The Big Green move to 3-8-1 on the season while UNH falls to 7-10-1.

Josh Waters who smashed it in for his first career goal to give the Big Green the 1-0 lead. Sophomore
Clay Stevenson made 13 saves in the opening period.
UNH tied things up shortly into the second frame. After forcing a turnover, Jackson Pierson and Liam Devlin played a quick give-and-go before Pierson shot to the bottom right corner to tie the game.
Waters added his second of the game on a penalty shot. Alex Gagne was called for holding and the Big Green were awarded a penalty shot. Waters strolled up with confidence to bury the shot to give Dartmouth the 2-1 lead.
The Wildcats pulled goaltender David Fessenden looking for the equalizer. Freshman
Braiden Dorfman got the puck and shot it nearly the entire length of the ice to score the empty net goal to give the Big Green a 3-1 lead.
Stevenson finished with a career-high 40 saves to claim the win.
Dartmouth is back in action tomorrow evening as they face Boston College in the Ledyard Classic Championship game at 7:30 pm. The game will be available to stream on ESPN+.
