HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth senior
Tim Zepf has earned a spot at the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field East Regional, qualifying in the 800m.
Â
Zepf's 1:48.83 to win the event at this past weekend's IC4A meet in Springfield, Massachusetts, was the time that earned the Big Green senior a ticket to Jacksonville for the regional championship meet.
Â
The meet will be held at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium from Wednesday, May 26 through Saturday, the 29th. Zepf will run in the first round of the 800m at 7:50 p.m. on the 26th with a chance to move on to the national quarterfinals two days later on Friday at 7:35 p.m.
Â
The senior captain and Londonderry, New Hampshire, native will make his way to the Sunshine State thanks to his most recent performance in the event with the 18th-best time in the region this season.
Â
Not only a personal best for Zepf, but that time was also the second-best 800m mark in school history, trailing only 1992 graduate Dennis Webster's 1:47.67 that remains the standard three decades later. Zepf's performance in western Massachusetts was only the third time ever a Dartmouth runner had eclipsed 1:49.0 as he joins Webster and Mike Carmody '08 (1:48.94).
