HANOVER, N.H. — Recent graduate
Tim Zepf along with the men's and women's track and field teams were recognized recently by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
The men's and women's programs were honored as 2021 All-Academic Teams. To earn the distinction, a team must post a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale for the entire year, not just one term. With a 3.482 GPA, the Big Green men were among the top 15 programs in the country. The women posted a 3.556 GPA — the program's best in at least the last decade — to rank fourth among the Ivy League schools.
In addition to the All-Academic Team honors, Dartmouth had Zepf honored as a 2021 USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete. He was recognized for the honor by meeting the criteria of at least a 3.25 GPA in addition to participating in any round of the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships (in his case, the NCAA East Regional in the 800m).
This season, Zepf was limited to just four meets, including the regional, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But he performed well in the 800m, finishing second in his first meet and winning the race in each of his next two. At the East Regional, he posted a personal best of 1:48.39 — the second-best time in program history — to win his first-round heat and place third overall among the 48 competitors. The only thing that slowed Zepf was getting tripped up in the quarterfinals, bringing his Dartmouth career to a close.
