The women's volleyball team hosted their first tournament in two seasons and, with a raucous crowd cheering from the stands, emerged from the two-day event undefeated. Freshman Emma Engstrom had a successful debut for the Green earning MVP honors. In the annual Maribel Sanchez Souther Invitational the men's cross country team squeaked out a narrow win over SUNY Geneseo led by sophomore Will Daley.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named the DartmouthSports.com Athletes of the week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Emma Engstrom, Fr., Danville, Calif., L/DS, Volleyball
Emma Engstrom played a huge part in Dartmouth's 3-0 home weekend, helping the Big Green defeat UNH, Holy Cross and UConn to win the Dartmouth Invitational for the first time since 2015. Named MVP and All-Tournament at the conclusion of the weekend, Engstrom ended up with a total of 15 assists (1.25/set), two aces and a team-leading 65 digs (5.42/set). She is first in the conference in total digs (114) and third in digs/set (4.75).
Will Daley, So., Denver, Colo., Men's Cross Country
Sophomore Will Daley competed in his first collegiate race over the weekend as the Dartmouth cross country team hosted the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invitational. Daley finished first in the 8k race to help the Big Green win the team title.

The second-year runner crossed the finish line at 25:20.2, narrowly winning the race by roughly 6.5 seconds. This win was crucial for the team as they edged out SUNY Geneseo by two points.
