HAMDEN, Conn. — The Dartmouth men's ice hockey team fell to Quinnipiac, 3-1, in ECAC Hockey action on Sunday at the Frank Perrotti Jr. Arena on Sunday evening.
The Big Green fall to 3-10-1 on the season with a 2-6-0 ECAC Hockey record. Quinnipiac improves to 16-1-3, 7-0-1 for the season.
Sophomore goaltender
Clay Stevenson had a tremendous game between the pipes for Dartmouth, making a career-high 47 saves. Freshman
Sean Chisholm scored his third goal of the season.
The Big Green almost took an early lead inside the first three and a half minutes as senior
Jeff Losurdo found himself with a great scoring opportunity, but his shot fired off the pipe.
The Bobcats opened scoring midway through the first period when Oliver Chau played the puck to the left side to former Dartmouth player
Brendan Less, who put his shot past Stevenson to give Quinnipiac the 1-0 lead. Quinnipiac pounced on a loose puck around the net towards the end of the first period to add to their lead.
Freshman
Sean Chisholm cut into the deficit midway through the second period after capitalizing on a Bobcats turnover and firing a shot into the back of the net for his second goal in as many games and his third on the season.
Sophomore goaltender
Clay Stevenson produced a fine display between the pipes during the second period, making several highlight reel saves to keep the game close.
Stevenson and the Big Green defense continued to come up big over the course of the third period to keep it a one-goal difference. With just under three minutes remaining, Dartmouth pulled Stevenson in favor of the extra attacker as they looked for the equalizer. Losurdo and Chisholm combined for a great opportunity in front of goal and Chisholm smashed it in. However, the officials waved it off.
Shortly after, the Bobcats scored a long-range empty net goal to seal the victory.
Dartmouth will return home to Thompson Arena for an ECAC Hockey weekend series with Clarkson and St. Lawrence. Those games will be available to stream on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet.
