AUBURN, Ala. — The Dartmouth equestrian team competed in the program's first ever National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) meets on Saturday.
The meets took place at Auburn University's Equestrian Center. The Tigers provided the horses.
To start the day, the Big Green were matched up with SUNY New Paltz. In the flat, freshman
Chloe Terestchenko earned a score of 72 to edge out a win over the Hawks' score of 71.5. In the fences, sophomore
Rachel Freer and senior
Tori Bergstein both won a point with scores of 77 and 70, respectively. The meet concluded with a win for New Paltz by a score of 5-3.
Rolling right into the second meet, Dartmouth competed against the hosts, #3 Auburn. The Tigers swept the meet, 8-0, despite several close head-to-head scores. Terestchenko's flat score of 71.5 was bested by a 72, and her fences score of 79 fell just short of Auburn's 80.
In the third and final meet of the day, Dartmouth defeated The University of the South. After the flat, the Big Green were trailing 3-1 with senior captain
Claire Azar earning her flat point for the team with a score of 75. Terestchenko, Freer, and Bergstein all earned their fence points to tie up the overall score, 4-4. Dartmouth was awarded the win after tallying the teams' total raw scores.
Dartmouth will be off for two weeks before returning to Morton Farm as they host Sacred Heart on February 13.
