HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's soccer team returns to Hanover for a Tuesday nonconference matchup against Hartford. The Big Green look to bounce back after suffering their first road loss of 2022 against Penn on Saturday.
Dartmouth last took the field on Oct. 8 in Philadelphia against Ivy League foe, Penn. The Big Green fell behind in the opening minute and could not generate offense throughout the match, falling by a score of 2-0.
The Big Green hold a .500 record against nonconference opponents. Dartmouth's last home match against a foe outside the Ancient Eight saw
David Alino score four times in a 6-0 victory over Stonehill on Sept. 24.
Hartford holds a 4-2-0 lead in the all-time series against Dartmouth. Last season the Hawks knocked off the Big Green in Hartford. Dartmouth will look to take down Hartford for the first time since 2017 this Tuesday.
GOALKEEPING & DEFENSE LEAD THE CHARGE
The Big Green defense has held strong throughout the 2022 season. Dartmouth has allowed 1.00 goals per game, the third best in the Ivy League.
Dartmouth's goalkeeping has also been stellar through nine matches. Big Green keepers hold a save percentage of .816, the highest of any team in the Ivy League.
Costi Christodoulou holds the best save percentage in the Ancient Eight (.805). He also averages 4.13 saves per game, the second-highest mark in the conference.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Dylan Buchanan made his first start for the Big Green last Tuesday against Holy Cross. He made four saves to earn his first-career shutout.
BIG GREEN LOOKING FOR OFFENSE
The Big Green look to break out offensively this Tuesday against Hartford.
Dartmouth's last nonconference match at Burnham Field saw the Big Green rack up six goals against Stonehill on Sept. 24.
Senior forward
David Alino leads the Big Green with five goals in eight matches played. Four of his goals came against Stonehill, while his first on Sept. 17 came off a penalty kick.
SCOUTING HARTFORD
Hartford enters Tuesday's matchup still searching for its first win of the 2022 season. The Hawks hold a record of 0-10-0, including eight losses on the road.
The Hawks have been outscored 44-6 through their first 10 matches. Hartford has also been outshot 263-56.
Hartford's goalkeeping committee of Rotem Fadida, Alex Quinones and Joshua Snyder have made 68 saves.
As of Oct. 6, Fadida's 52 saves ranked third in Division I. He also leads the nation in saves per game, with an average of 6.50.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE HAWKS
The Big Green and Hawks last faced off on Sept. 28, 2021, in West Hartford, Connecticut.
A back-and-forth contest went Hartford's way after a late goal gave the Hawks the lead. Dartmouth was unable to recover following a goal in the 82nd minute.
Dartmouth was outshot 11-10 by the Hawks in a close matchup. Goalkeeper Alex Budnick made five saves in the loss, while Hartford's Rotem Fadida recorded a five-save clean sheet.

The Big Green look to improve upon its 2-4-0 record in the all-time series against Hartford.

Bo Oshoniyi holds an 0-2-0 record against the Hawks, suffering defeats to Hartford in 2019 and 2021.
Dartmouth's last victory against Hartford came on Sept. 9, 2017. Dartmouth picked up an overtime 1-0 win on the road that night, as a goal in the 91st minute gave the Big Green its first victory of the season.
