HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's soccer team is set for an Ivy League contest against the Columbia Lions this Saturday night. The Big Green will take on their fourth conference opponent of the season on October 22 at 7 p.m. at Burnham Field.
The Big Green last took the field on Tuesday, October 18 on the road against the No. 10 Vermont Catamounts. Dartmouth fell behind in the 27th minute on a penalty kick opportunity and could not recover, falling by a score of 3-0. Goalkeepers

Dartmouth looks to climb the Ivy League standings with a win over the Lions this weekend. The Big Green's last conference match came on October 15, as Dartmouth powered past the Yale Bulldogs, 3-2.
Alex van Schalkwyk,
David Alino and
Louis Weisdorf each found the back of the net in Dartmouth's first conference win of the season.
The Big Green host Columbia in Hanover for the third consecutive season. The last two matches between the programs each went to a draw, and Dartmouth is searching for its first win over the Lions since October 21, 2017.
ALEX VAN SCHALKWYK: IVY LEAGUE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Senior forward
Alex van Schalkwyk earned Ivy League Player of the Week honors on October 17 following a stellar week of action.
He opened the week with a goal in Dartmouth's 3-0 win over Hartford and followed up with the opening score of the Big Green's 3-2 win over Yale on Saturday, October 15.
van Schalkwyk is the third member of Dartmouth's squad to earn player of the week honors this season, joining
Costi Christodoulou (Sept. 2) and
David Alino (Sept. 26) as recipients of the award.
KEY TO VICTORY: SCORE FIRST
Scoring first has been the key to success for the Big Green this season.
Dartmouth is 4-0-0 when scoring first so far in 2022. The Big Green hold wins over Niagara (1-0), Stonehill (6-0), Hartford (3-0) and Yale (3-2), finding the back of the net first in each contest.
Dartmouth struck first in both of its victories last weekend. In both matches, the Big Green scored in the opening half.
SCOUTING COLUMBIA
Columbia enters Saturday's contest with a record of 1-5-5 and an 0-0-3 mark in Ivy League competition.
The Lions are unbeaten in conference play but are still looking for their first win in Ivy League competition. Columbia has earned hard-fought draws against Brown, Harvard and Princeton through the first three weeks of the Ivy League schedule.
Last time out, the Lions found a goal in the 86th minute to escape with a 1-1 draw against the defending Ivy League champion, Princeton. Will DeNight found the back of the net on a free kick in the dying moments of the match to keep Columbia unbeaten against Ancient Eight foes.
Columbia's lone win occurred over a month ago against St. John's on September 12. The Lions picked up a 1-0 win at home but have yet to record a victory since.
LAST TIME AGAINST THE LIONS
The Big Green last faced off with the Lions last season in Hanover on October 23, 2021.
Dartmouth's
Matt Pickering found the back of the net with 45 seconds remaining to force overtime against Columbia.
The Big Green and Lions played to a 1-1 draw after Pickering's equalizer. Dartmouth outshot Columbia 25-3 through the match and peppered the net with 11 shots on goal.
ALL-TIME AGAINST COLUMBIA
Dartmouth holds a 30-23-9 advantage in the all-time series against Columbia. The Big Green also hold a 17-9-6 lead on the Lions in Hanover.
