WEST POINT, N.Y. — Following a bye-filled opening day at Army West Point, the Dartmouth men's tennis team picked up two singles victories during the second day of action at the ITA Regional courtesy of
Waleed Qadir and
Hikaru Takeda.
Freshman Qadir, who went undefeated to start his collegiate career at the Penn Invitational a few weeks prior, used a resurgent third set to defeat Sacred Heart's Matyas Vencl and advance in the regional tournament. He's set to take on Army West Point's Nathan Jose Sunday in the Round of 32.
Hikaru notched a two-set victory over Colgate's Max Litton in his season debut and will battle Sacred Heart's Lefteri Apostolou Sunday.
Qadir and
Miles Groom received a bye in the opening round of doubles action and advanced via walkover Saturday. They'll start their tournament run in the Round of 16 against Philip Hilble and Arthur Voiseux from Long Island.
