HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's hockey team fell to No. 6 Merrimack, 3-2, in overtime on Friday evening at Thompson Arena on the opening night of the 33
rd Ledyard Classic. Dartmouth moves to 1-11-1 while Merrimack is now 14-4-0 on the season.

Tyler Campbell led the way for Dartmouth with one goal and one assist.
Tanner Palocsik scored the opener while
Joey Musa also picked up his fourth assist of the season.
Cooper Black finished with 24 saves. The Big Green defense finished with 11 blocked shots.

Nikita Borodayenko, Ottoville Leppanen and Ben Brar each scored for the Warriors. Alex Jefferies provided two assists.

The Big Green opened the scoring five minutes into the first period. Campbell snagged the puck out of the air, putting it to the ice before passing it out to the right side along the boards to Palocsik. Palocsik fired off a shot that snuck past Merrimack goaltender Zachary Borgiel for his second goal of the season.

The Warriors responded with two of their own to take a 2-1 lead just minutes later. Borodayenko scored the equalizer and Leppanen scored the second goal to give Merrimack the lead seven minutes into the game.

Dartmouth tied things up with a few minutes to go in the opening period. Musa's initial shot was saved, but Campbell followed up on the loose puck, making the shifty move around Borgier to lift it past him and into the back of the net for his second goal in as many games.

The score stayed the same over the final two periods, with both teams getting several quality opportunities to take the lead. Neither team could find the breakthrough, sending the game to a 3v3 overtime with a spot in the Ledyard Classic championship game on the line.

John Fusco nearly scored the game winner early in the extra period as he skated his way through the Merrimack defense before having his shot attempt saved by Borgiel.

The Warriors grabbed the winner with just over a minute remaining in overtime. Jefferies found Brar as he put a shot past Black into the net to send Merrimack to the championship game.

Dartmouth closes out 2022 tomorrow evening in the second day of the 33
rd Ledyard Classic. The Big Green take on the Yale Bulldogs in the consolation game. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and the game will be available to stream on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet.
