ATLANTA, Ga. – The Dartmouth softball team (3-16) fell to Georgia Tech (20-9) in two games on Tuesday in non-conference action at Mewborn Field. The Yellow Jackets took game one, 1-0, before winning game two, 9-1, in five innings.

Game 1: Dartmouth 0, Georgia Tech 1

Rachel McCarroll led the way for the Big Green as she allowed no hits through 6.2 innings. McCarroll allowed two hits in the seventh and finished with two strikeouts and two walks.
Billie McFadyen and
Leila Hennessy each had one hit.

Chandler Dennis pitched a complete game shutout for the Yellow Jackets, allowing just two hits while striking out nine. Sandra Beth Pritchett and Sara Beth Allen each finished with one hit with Allen hitting the walk-off single.

It was a pitching battle through the first six innings as McCarroll had a no-hitter going while Dennis had only allowed one hit by that point. Georgia Tech almost ended the no-hit bid in the fourth, but
Maddie Katona made a spectacular play at the fence.

The best scoring chance of the game for the Big Green came in the top of the seventh. Hennessy started the inning with a single to left field. Hennessy made her way to third throughout the next two at-bats. With two outs and a runner on third with the chance to take the lead,
Jenna Brown grounded out to end the inning.

The no-hit bid ended with two outs in the seventh when Pritchett doubled to left center. The Yellow Jackets brought in Kennedy Cowden to pinch run for Pritchett. After advancing to third on a wild pitch, Cowden scored the winning run on a walk-off single from Allen.

Alaana Panu had a double and one run for the Big Green.
Emily Lipsett had one hit while
Leila Hennessy picked up the RBI.

Tricia Awald had two hits, including a home run, and two RBI for the Yellow Jackets. Five different players finished with one RBI. Sophia Voyles pitched five innings allowing two hits and striking out four.

Awald got things going for Georgia Tech in the first with a solo shot to right field. After the Yellow Jackets added two more in the second, the Big Green almost got on the board in the third when
Jenna Brown got into scoring position. After being walked to begin the inning, Brown stole second before advancing to third on a ground-out from Lipsett.

Dartmouth did get on the scoreboard in the fourth. Panu led off the inning with a double to center field. She advanced to third on a ground-out by McFadyen and then scored on the next at-bat when Hennessy grounded out to first.

Georgia Tech exploded for six runs in the fifth to close it out. After Awald hit an RBI single up the middle, the Yellow Jackets loaded the bases and scored five runs in the next five at-bats with two singles and three walks.

Dartmouth returns to Hanover to open their home and Ivy League schedule when they host Yale at Dartmouth Softball Park for three games this weekend. Game one of Saturday's doubleheader starts at 12:30 p.m. The games will be available to stream on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet.
