BERLIN, Md. — After the first of round of the Battle at Rum Pointe, the Dartmouth men's golf team finds itself tied for ninth in the 22-team field with a 15-over 303. Three in the Big Green group are pacing the team, each with a 75 (+3), to wrap up the day tied for 27th overall.
Seniors
Charles Petrie and
Mark Turner, along with freshman
Justin Lee, all carded the 3-over 75 on the 7,001-yard, par-72 course at the Rum Pointe Golf Course, and junior
Eli Thrasher also contributed to the team score with a 6-over 78, tying for 64th in the 120-player field.
Rhode Island was the lone team to finish under par at 3-under (285), 10 strokes ahead of Rider. Other Ivy League squads competing are Cornell in sixth (+1) and Harvard tied for seventh (+11).
On the individual leaderboard, Big Red golfer Samuel King has a two-stroke lead with a 5-under 67 over a pair from Rhode Island and Bucknell's Jason Lohwater.
The second and final round will begin as a shotgun start tomorrow morning at 9:30 a.m.
