HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth men's tennis had a 6-1 victory over Bucknell on Saturday morning. The Big Green are now 6-3 after having won three in a row, while the Bison dropped to 3-8.
Â
"We're happy to get the win today,"
Xander Centenari '13, the John Kenfield and
Chuck Kinyon Head Coach of Men's Tennis, said after the match. "Credit to Bucknell for pushing us on many courts. The guys did a good job of coming up with what they needed to do to get the job done."
Â
Wins on all three doubles courts started the day off on the right foot.
Logan Chang and
Carlos Guerrero Alvarez had a 6-3 win at the No. 3 position, and that was followed by 7-5 victories by
Anders Gibbons and
Dominik Pauli on court one and
Alex Knox-Jones and
Pierce Widdecombe at the No. 2 spot.
Â
The Big Green brought that drive into singles and wins by Chang, Widdecombe and
Anders Gibbons at the No. 6, 5 and 2 positions gave the home team a 4-0 advantage. A Bucknell win on court four put the visitors on the board, but Guerrero Alvarez and Pauli victories at the No. 1 and 3 spots shut the match down.
Â
This will be Dartmouth's last home match until April 16. In two weeks, the Green will head out to California for five matches in the sun before opening Ivy League play during the first week of April.
