HANOVER, N.H. – Dartmouth men's tennis ended its first home weekend in over five weeks with a 5-2 loss to No. 39 Princeton.

"I thought we bounced back pretty well today after our match yesterday,"
Xander Centenari '13, the John Kenfield and
Chuck Kinyon Head Coach of Men's Tennis, said. "We talked about managing adversity a bit better and we put those lessons into play. It's tough when we get a slow start like we did today. We have to keep working on our doubles to put ourselves in some better positions going into singles. There were a few moments in the team match where I really believed we were going to turn the match around. We've been doing that all year long and I really believe we are going to flip the switch very soon.

"It was great to get a couple singles points on the board against good players," Centenari continued. "Part of why we play out the team match all the way is to get some valuable experience for our guys, to build confidence and carry some momentum into our next few matches. We are feeling good about our chances this week. We'll apply a lot of what we learn into training this week and be ready to go for our next opportunity against Yale."

Dartmouth (8-11, 0-5) at Princeton (17-7, 3-2)
The first point of the afternoon went to the Tigers after winning on courts one and three in doubles action. At the No. 2 position,
Pierce Widdecombe and
Alex Knox-Jones were leading, 5-4, when the match went unfinished.

Another two points for Princeton put the visitors up, 3-0, before Knox-Jones defeated his opponent, 6-4, 6-4, on court four. A win at the top spot clinched the win for the Tigers but play continued and Princeton added one more at the No. 2 position.
Dominik Pauli won the final match of the day on court three, downing Karl Poling, 7-6(4), 6-3.

Next weekend, Dartmouth will play its final two matches of the season, facing Yale on the road on Friday before hosting Brown on Sunday.
