HANOVER, N.H. — The Ivy League announced its All-Ivy League Teams in women's golf on Tuesday, and Dartmouth sophomore
Katherine Sung was named to the first team, while junior
Samantha Yao earned a spot on the Academic All-Ivy League Women's Golf Team.
Sung earned her spot on the All-Ivy Team by tying for third at the Ivy League Championship this past weekend, matching the best finish by a Big Green women's golfer ever at the event. She completed the three rounds with a 73-78-71—222, with that 71 (-1) in the final round matching the low round of the day. For the season, Sung produced a team-best 75.27 stroke average with top-three finishes in five of her eight tournaments.
Yao, an economics major with a 3.81 GPA, nearly matched Sung's stroke average on the season at 75.52, winning one tournament and tying for fifth in another. She also carded the lowest round in Dartmouth women's golf history with a 3-under 69 at the Bama Beach Bash on March 20 en route to winning medalist honors.
Dartmouth concluded the Ivy League Championship tied for fourth place at 38-over par, a mere 10 strokes behind Princeton, which won the title. Only the 2019 Big Green team finished closer to the top of the leaderboard at the event.
Notes: Sung joins Kaitlyn Lees (2019) and Catharine Roddy (2017) as the Big Green women's golfers to finish third at the Ivy League Championship … Sung is just the fifth Dartmouth women's golfer to earn a spot on the first team — Lees, Roddy, Samantha Sommers (1997) and Lauren Epstein (1997, '98, 2000).
