The award is named after MA Sorensen, a World Cup winner for the USA in 1991, a trailblazing collegiate player at William & Mary, and a highly successful and respected coach, rugby ambassador, and anesthesiologist.
Ihensekhien becomes the second Big Green player to receive the award. Senior
Emily Henrich was the first Dartmouth player to win the award back in 2019.

The Dartmouth No. 8, Ihensekhien led the Big Green to the 2021 Ivy Championship, the No. 1 seed in the NIRA Championship, and ultimately the NIRA Championship Trophy. Ihensekhien was named MVP of the NIRA Championship game after leading Dartmouth with two tries on their way to a 28-18 victory over the hosts, Army West Point, to claim their second-ever NIRA Championship trophy.
