HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's soccer team is set for its home-opening tilt against the LIU Sharks on Saturday, September 10. The Big Green host their first match at Burnham Field following a pair of games in upstate New York last weekend.
Costi Christodoulou led the charge for Dartmouth last weekend, as the sophomore goalkeeper made 11 saves over a pair of matches against Niagara and Canisius. The South African native opened the season with an eight-save clean sheet in the Big Green's 1-0 victory over the Purple Eagles on September 2. He went on to post a second-consecutive shutout against Canisius in a scoreless draw on September 5.
Garrett Scott posted the first goal of his collegiate career against Niagara in the 72nd minute of Dartmouth's season opener. Freshman
Oskar Magnusson posted an assist on Scott's goal in his debut.
For his efforts against Niagara, Christodoulou was named the Ivy League Player of the Week on September 6, becoming the first Dartmouth keeper to earn the honor since November 7, 2016.
LIU heads to Hanover with a record of 2-2. After winning the first two contests of the 2022 season against Stony Brook and Iona at home, the Sharks dropped a pair of matches, first to Fordham at home, followed by a 3-2 loss to Hofstra on the road.
Saturday's contest will be the first meeting between the Big Green and the Sharks in program history.
BACK AT BURNHAM
The Dartmouth men's soccer team's home-opener against LIU is the start of the program's 15th season at Burnham Field.
The Big Green hold a stellar all-time mark at Burnham Field, as Dartmouth enters the 2022 season with a record of 80-22-16 in their home venue.
Dartmouth finished the 2021 season with a record of 2-2-1 at home, which included wins over Albany and Vermont.
COSTI STANDS TALL, EARNS POTW HONORS
Costi Christodoulou posted a pair of shutouts in Dartmouth's first two games.
The South Africa native recorded his first career win and clean sheet against the Niagara Purple Eagles on September 2. He became the first Dartmouth keeper to record a pair of shutouts in back-to-back games since the 2018 season.
For his efforts against Niagara, Christodoulou was named the Ivy League Player of the Week, becoming the first member of the Big Green to earn the honor since 2019 and the first Dartmouth goalkeeper to do so since 2016.
FRESHMEN MAKE AN IMPACT
The Big Green received impactful performances from their freshman class in the first two contests of the season.

SCOUTING LIU
The Sharks head to Hanover with a record of 2-2, which included wins over Stony Brook and Iona to open the season. Despite a strong start, the Sharks were handed their first loss of the season September 2 at home against Fordham by a score of 2-1.
LIU hit the road for the first time for a contest against Hofstra on Wednesday. A pair of goals in the second half from the Pride lifted Hofstra over LIU, 3-2.
Head coach Michael Mordocco led his team to a Northeast Conference (NEC) championship and a berth into the NCAA College Cup. The Sharks won their first-round matchup against Maryland before falling to No. 10 Saint Louis. LIU finished the season with a record of 12-5-4.
Through four games, senior goalkeeper Sergio Peralta has led the charge for the Sharks in goal. The Middle Village, New York native made a combined nine saves in LIU's victories over Stony Brook and Iona. Peralta holds a save percentage of .714 and a goals against average of 1.50.
