Alex Krause scored in his NCAA debut

HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth men's hockey team fell to St. Lawrence, 3-2 in overtime, in ECAC Hockey action on Friday evening at Thompson Arena. Dartmouth moves to 2-14-1, 1-8-1 while St. Lawrence is now 11-10-0, 6-3-0 on the season.

Alex Krause, in his collegiate debut, scored his first career goal. Tanner Palocsik scored the other Big Green goal while Jack Cameron and Steven Townley each had assists. Cooper Black finished with 29 saves.

Felikss Gavars, Luc Salem and Mason Waite all scored for the Saints. Waite also had one assist to finish with two points. Emil Zetterquist made 27 saves in goal for St. Lawrence.

Palocsik nearly opened the scoring midway through the second period but his shot from the left side nicked off the pipe and away from goal.

St. Lawrence took the lead with six minutes remaining in the second frame. Gavars had the puck with space and took a shot from the point that made its way past Black to put the Big Green behind 1-0.

Dartmouth tied it with under a minute to go until the second intermission. Cameron fired the puck towards goal that was going just wide until Krause, in front of goal, had the perfect redirect into the bottom corner of the goal to tie the game, 1-1.

The Saints took back the lead midway through the third period. Aleksi Peltonen passed the puck across the ice to Salem, who calmly placed it past Black to put them up, 2-1.

The Big Green once again tied the game, this time with under four minutes remaining in regulation. After Luke Haymes had the puck poked away, Palocsik picked up the loose puck near mid-ice. He skated his way through the St. Lawrence defense and shot it top corner past Zetterquist for his third goal of the season.

Both teams had several opportunities in the final minutes, but neither team could find the winner, sending the game to a 3v3 overtime. The Big Green and the Saints had their chances to score throughout overtime, but it was Waite who scored the game-winner in the final seconds before a potential shootout.

Dartmouth is back in action tomorrow evening with an ECAC Hockey matchup against Clarkson at Thompson Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. and will be available to stream on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet. Tomorrow's game is presented by Milton CAT and is also Military Appreciation Night.
