THIS WEEKEND
The Dartmouth men's hockey team returns to Thompson Arena for a pair of ECAC Hockey matchups against St. Lawrence and Clarkson. The Big Green play the Saints on Friday evening at 8 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. tilt on Saturday against the Golden Knights.
LOOKING BACK TO LAST WEEKEND
The Big Green opened the 2023 slate with a pair of road ECAC Hockey matchups. Dartmouth fell to Quinnipiac, 3-0, on Friday evening at M&T Bank Arena.
Cooper Black made 40 saves while the Big Green combined to block 28 shots. The following night, Dartmouth took on fellow Ivy member Princeton at Hobey Baker Rink.
John Fusco scored his third goal of the season and the team's seventh power play goal.
Matt Hubbarde tallied his fourth of the year later in the game while
Braiden Dorfman picked up two assists and
Luke Haymes and
Sean Keohan each registered their first assist of the season.
THE STATS
Haymes leads the Big Green in goals with seven. Hubbarde sits second with four followed by
Tyler Campbell, Dorfman and Fusco, who each have three.
Tanner Palocsik has a team-high seven assists while Dorfman has six and Hubbarde and Fusco both have five.
Dartmouth has blocked 195 shots, led by
Jack Cameron and
Joey Musa with 18 apiece. Fusco has 17 while Palocsik has 14.
Black has started all 16 games between the pipes for the Big Green. He has made 419 saves and has allowed 45 goals for a save percentage of .903.
The Dartmouth penalty kill ranks second nationally with a percentage of .907, which also leads ECAC Hockey.
SCOUTING ST. LAWRENCE
St. Lawrence enters Friday's game with a 10-10-0, 5-3-0 record. They are coming off a non-conference series split with Niagara. The Purple Eagles won the first matchup, 4-3, while the Saints took the victory the following night, 4-3, in overtime.
Luc Salem leads the Saints in goals with seven. Max Dorrington and Josh Boyer are tied for second with five goals each. Tyler Cristall and Ty Naaykens are tied with a team-high eight assists while Philippe Chapleau and Salem both sit in second with seven apiece.
Emil Zetterquist has started all 20 games in goal for St. Lawrence, making 486 saves and has allowed 50 goals for a save percentage of .907.
Salem was named the most recent ECAC Hockey Defender of the Week after registering five points last weekend, including the game-winner over Niagara on Saturday.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE SAINTS
The Big Green are 45-63-4 all-time against the Saints with a 29-29-1 home record. The teams split the series in 2021-22 as Dartmouth picked up a 3-2 win in Canton in early November. St. Lawrence earned a 3-1 win at Thompson Arena in mid-January.
SCOUTING CLARKSON
Clarkson enters the weekend with a 9-8-3, 3-3-2 record. They play No. 9 Harvard on Friday evening. The Golden Knights skated to a 1-1 tie with Holy Cross in their previous outing and won the shootout.
Mathieu Gosselin and Anthony Callin lead Clarkson in goals with eight each. Alex Campbell is second with seven followed by Jacob Schmidt-Svejstrup in third with six. Ayrton Martino has a team-high 18 assists, good for second in the league, and Noah Beck has 12.
Ethan Haider has started 19 of 20 games in goal for the Golden Knights has made 449 saves while allowing 45 goals for a save percentage of .909.
ALL-TIME AGAINST THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS
The Big Green are 32-75-8 all-time against the Golden Knights with a 19-45-5 home record. Dartmouth went 0-1-1 against Clarkson a season ago. The Golden Knights took the win in the first matchup, 3-0, in Potsdam. Later in the season, the two teams skated to a 5-5 tie at Thompson Arena with Clarkson taking the extra point in the standings after winning the shootout, 1-0.
