NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Midway through the first period, Yale scored twice in the span of 51 seconds and wouldn't look back as the Bulldogs defeated the Dartmouth women's hockey team, 8-0, on Saturday afternoon at Ingalls Ice Rink. Yale finished with three first-period goals and five more in the second to erase any doubt.
With the loss, the Big Green fall to 2-3-1 overall and 1-3-1 in ECAC Hockey. Yale improves to 3-1-0 overall, which is also the Bulldogs' conference record.
Yale's eight goals came from seven different goal scorers. Stephanie Stainton was the only multi-goal scorer, finishing with two goals and an assist. Elle Hartje had a goal and four assists while Carina DiAntonio added four assists.
It was Hartje who got the scoring started, from DiAntonio, at the 10:02 mark of the first period. Stainton made it 2-0 at 10:53.
Yale went on to add one late in the period, then five more in the second.
The Bulldogs had an 8-4 edge in third-period shots, with neither team finding the back of the net.
Final shots were 30-11 in favor of Yale while Dartmouth won 25 faceoffs to the Bulldogs' 19.
Eleanor Rogers made 22 saves in goal across Pia Dukaric, who stopped all 11 sent her way.
The Big Green return to the ice next weekend with games at Quinnipiac (on Friday at 6 p.m.) and Princeton (on Saturday at 3 p.m.). Both games can be seen live on ESPN+.
