ETNA, N.H. — The Dartmouth Equestrian team wrapped up its fall season with a convincing 6-2 victory over Sacred Heart on Sunday at Morton Farm, with the Big Green's third straight win pulling their overall record to 3-1. A pair of first years,
Samantha Takacs and
Cassidy Exner, were named Most Outstanding Players for the meet, in the flat and over fences, respectively.
Senior
Rachel Freer and
Margot Luria, and Takacs, each won their matchups on the flat, giving the Big Green a 3-1 lead heading into the jumping portion of the day. Takacs' 86-81 win earned her MOP honors for the meet.
Dartmouth finished the fall with a 9-6-1 record on the flat.
"I am so proud of the improvements our team has made on the flat," said head coach
Tenley Walsh. "This used to be our weaker event, but our student-athletes have really worked hard this year, and it's a great feeling going into jumping being ahead."
Over fences, Takacs picked up her second head-to-head victory of the day, while senior
Abby Niles and Exner each turned in their team-leading third jumping points of the season. Exner's 85-71 performance earned her the MOP.
"Today, all five riders that entered the ring earned a point for the team," said Walsh. "This is how the entire season has been. It has been a total team effort — and that includes all of the hard work assistant coach
Megan McGill has put in as well."
Dartmouth will resume its season in January, with three winter meets against Texas A&M, Auburn and the University of Tennessee at Martin — ranked fourth, second and 10th in the NCEA dual-discipline rankings, respectively.
