Women’s Squash Falls to Penn in Kurtz Cup Final

The No. 10 Big Green dropped its final match of the season to the No. 9 Quakers

PHILADELPHIA — The Dartmouth women's squash team concluded its season in the final round of the Kurtz Cup at the CSA National Collegiate Women's Team Championships. The No. 10 Big Green fell to No. 9 Penn in Philadelphia by a result of 9-0 to close out the 2022-23 season.

Ellie Burke, Priya Verma and Neeya Patel forced their matches to five sets against the Quakers but were unable to get the Big Green on the board. Burke overcame a 2-1 deficit to force a fifth and decisive set against Natasha Pensler at position No. 4 but came up just short.

Verma also battled back from a 2-1 deficit in her match against Eujung Park at positon No. 5. Park won the final set to take the five-set win for the Quakers. Patel jumped out to a 2-1 lead at the sixth position, but a pair of wins from Grace Levin in the final two frames held Dartmouth from a point.

Jesse Brownell, Chelsea Cho and Aubrey Lennon each won a set in their matches against the Quakers, ultimately falling in four frames. Penn secured sweeps at three positions to close out the Kurtz Cup championship.

The Big Green close out the season at the Individual Championships March 3-5. Information on participants and matches will be available in the coming weeks.
