BOSTON, Mass. – Tanner Palocsik of the Dartmouth men's hockey team has been named a semifinalist for the Walter Brown Award, as announced on Monday by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston. The award is presented annually to the best American-born college hockey player in New England.

The nation's oldest nationally-recognized college hockey honor, the Walter Brown Award was established in 1953 by the members of the 1933 Massachusetts Rangers, the first American team ever to win the World Championship Tournament. Brown coached the Rangers to the title in Prague, Czechoslovakia, where the team defeated Canada 2-1 in overtime in the championship game.

Palocsik, a senior defenseman from Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, has appeared in all 24 games for the Big Green this season. He has scored four goals this year and leads Dartmouth in assists (16) and points (20). He has four multi-point games, including a three-assist performance this past weekend against Princeton.

Palocsik is one of 25 players named as a semifinalist for the award by the Gridiron Club. He was one of eight ECAC Hockey players on the list. The winner of the 71
st Walter Brown Award will be announced in the final week of March.

Palocsik and the Big Green play host to No. 10 Harvard this Friday evening at Thompson Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. and the game will be available to stream on ESPN+ and Stretch Internet.
