AIKEN, S.C. — The Dartmouth men's golf team opened its spring schedule at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate event on Monday. The Big Green finished day one of the event after two rounds, improving as the day grew longer.
The Big Green featured five golfers, as
Mark Turner,
Eli Kimche,
Cameron Keith,
Aaron Zhang and
Charles Petrie took the course at the Palmetto Golf Club.
Kimche led the way for Dartmouth, closing out the first day of the event at 11-over 151. He sophomore improved greatly from his first round of the day, shaving six strokes off his score to close the day at 11-over par. His improvement was on display at the 10
th hole, as he cut two strokes off a par-5 to record one of Dartmouth's two eagles of the day.
Turner also got more comfortable as the event went on, bouncing back from a tough first round to close out the first day of the spring season. The senior co-captain showed a five-stroke improvement from his first round, closing out the day tied for 66
th in a field of 75 competitors.
Petrie played the most consistent golf of
Rich Parker's squad, shooting 7-over 77 and 6-over 76 in his two rounds of action. He closed out the day 65
th in the field, the second highest of any Dartmouth competitor.
A pair of freshmen also gained valuable experience, as Keith and Zhang finished the day in the 68
th and 74
th position, respectively.
The Big Green close out their time at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate tomorrow for one final round of action. Dartmouth opens the day at 9 a.m.
