Thrower and women's lacrosse player are tops this week
A Dartmouth study has indicated that climate change is causing the number of homeruns to increase in major league baseball this spring. Whether there is something to it or not, senior Jake Dalton is throwing the hammer farther than he ever has, breaking the school record four times in one meet. Sophomore Katina Christensen tossed three balls into the opposing net for the women's lacrosse team, adding two assists for good measure in a victory over the Brown Bears.
Their efforts are rewarded by being named The Richards Group Athletes of the week.
Each week, DartmouthSports.com will spotlight two outstanding student-athletes - one male, one female - as Athletes of the Week. Student-athletes may be chosen based upon their efforts both on and off the field of competition.
Jake Dalton, Sr., Andover, Mass., Throws, Men's Track and Field
After breaking the program hammer throw record just two weeks ago, Jake Dalton accomplished the feat four times on Thursday at the Duke Invitational. Out of his six throws, Dalton broke the program record on four of his throws, with his final throw of 65.39m being his best. He placed second in the event and moved up to second on the Ivy League performance list this season.
Katina Christensen, So., Houston, Texas, A, Women's Lacrosse
Katina Christensen scored three goals and dished out two assists to lead the Big Green women's lacrosse team to its first Ivy League win of the season on Saturday against Brown. Facing a 3-0 deficit after the first quarter, Christensen scored Dartmouth's first two goals to spark the comeback as they defeated the Bears, 16-9.
