Dartmouth Posts Strong Showings in Two Meets on Friday

The Big Green positioned themselves high on the Ivy League Performance List in several events

The Dartmouth women's track and field team opened the weekend with strong showings at the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton and the Northeast Challenge at UConn.

The Big Green started the day off well in their first event in New Jersey with all three runners in the 800m race setting new PRs. Julia Fenerty led the way with a fourth-place finish with a time of 2:05.51, good for second in program history and second in the Ivy League this season. Bella Pietrasiewicz finished with a time of 2:09.75 followed by Annie Jackson with a time of 2:09.75, both now in the top 10 for the Ivy League this year.

Anya Hirschfeld claimed third in the 1500m race with a PR of 4:22.68, good for seventh in program history.

Katherine Strong took fifth in the 3000m steeplechase, finishing with a time of 10:33.22 in her first time competing in the event. Her time ranks seventh in the Ancient Eight this year.

In the 5000m run, Corinne Robitaille placed sixth with a PR of 16:35.00, now in the top 10 for the Ivy League this year. Emma Kerimo finished with a time of 16:56.75, taking 10^th and setting a new PR by 20 seconds.

UCONN NORTHEAST CHALLENGE
Down in Connecticut, Bridget McNally (5.95m) and Emma Cunningham (5.68m) finished in the top 10 for the long jump. McNally took fifth while Cunningham finished ninth.

Julia Reglewski placed fourth in the discus throw with a toss of 45.62m.

Corinne Ahern finished ninth in the javelin after throwing for a mark of 38.25m.

Gabriela Fasanelli had quite the day for the first four events of the heptathlon on Friday. Fasanelli finished tied for first in the high jump, clearing 1.65m, which also ties her personal best. She set a new PR in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.01 seconds and finished fourth in shot put with a throw of 10.92m. The remaining three events will take place on Saturday.
