HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth softball team heads to New Haven, Connecticut for an Ivy League series with postseason implications against Yale this weekend. The three-game slate features the fourth-ranked Big Green and fifth-ranked Bulldogs, as both squads battle for ground as the Ivy League Tournament approaches.

SCHEDULE CHANGE
The Dartmouth softball team's road series against Yale has been altered due to forecasted inclement weather in New Haven, Connecticut.

The Big Green will now open the series with a single game tomorrow, April 21 at 3:30 p.m. The series will conclude with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 22, which is set to begin at 12:30 p.m., as originally scheduled.

Originally, Dartmouth was set to open the three-game slate on Saturday with the doubleheader and conclude with a single game on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green last took the field at home against Merrimack for a non-conference tilt on Wednesday, April 19. Dartmouth picked up its fifth home win of the season, knocking off the Warriors by a score of 5-2.

Kate Farren and
Jenna Brown were effective at the plate during the mid-week game, as both went 3-for-4 and recorded an RBI. The Big Green combined for 10 hits on the afternoon, while allowing just three Merrimack hits.

Izzy Kam pitched four scoreless innings for the Big Green in her second start of the season. She earned her third win of the season, striking out four batters.
Rachel McCarroll pitched a trio of innings to close the game, striking out five batters to earn her second save of the 2023 campaign.

The Big Green look to improve upon their hitting in timely situations this weekend, as Dartmouth left 12 runners stranded against Merrimack.

Dartmouth was solid on defense throughout the game and were able to produce outs with runners aboard. The Warriors left nine runners on base over the course of the game and were stymied throughout much of the afternoon.

KATE FARREN = PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kate Farren earned Ivy League Co-Player of the Week, as announced by the conference on Monday, April 17, for her stellar performances against Brown.

Farren opened the road series with a bang, recording a pair of home runs and three RBIs in Dartmouth's 4-0 win. She registered three hits on four at-bats, fueling her team past the Bears to secure the series opener.

She concluded the weekend with a batting average of .600 and a slugging percentage of 1.500. Her performances against Brown propelled her to fifth in the Ivy League in slugging percentage (.737) and home runs (4) in conference play.

Farren is Dartmouth's second player this season to earn Player of the Week recognition from the Ivy League, as
Alaana Panu was honored on March 27.

SCOUTING YALE
Yale enters the weekend with an Ivy League record of 7-8. The Bulldogs currently sit one spot outside of postseason contention, just behind the Big Green.

In its last Ivy League series, Yale was swept by Harvard in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The Bulldogs dropped a pair of one-run games to open the series, before the Crimson picked up a 5-0 victory in the finale.

The Bulldogs have been sharp in the confines of 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium, holding a record of 7-2 at home as of April 19. Yale has outscored opponents 40-29 in its nine games in New Haven.

Libby Peoples and Sam Goodcase have contributed 22 combined RBIs for the Bulldogs in conference play.

Throughout the season, including non-conference games Willa Ferrer leads Yale with a batting average of .323. Lauren Parren leads the team with 25 RBIs in 2023.

HISTORY AGAINST THE BULLDOGS
Dartmouth holds a 46-31 advantage in the all-time series against the Bulldogs.

Last season, Yale secured a 2-1 series victory over Dartmouth in Hanover. The Big Green were swept in a twin bill on March 26, 2022 and bounced back with a 10-3 win in the series finale the following day.

The Big Green travel to New Haven for the first time since 2019. Dartmouth swept a series-opening doubleheader on April 6, while Yale avoided a sweep with an 8-5 win the following afternoon.

Dartmouth has won six of the last 10 meetings between the teams, dating back to 2017.

AROUND THE IVY LEAGUE
Many shifts in the Ivy League standings occurred as a result of last weekend's conference games. Dartmouth moved into a postseason slot with its series victory over Brown. Yale fell to fifth place in the conference, as the Bulldogs were swept by Harvard.

Harvard's sweep of Yale, combined with a loss from Princeton have created a tie for the top seed in the conference. The Crimson and Tigers will continue to jockey near the top of the Ancient Eight standings. Columbia sits in third place with an 8-7 record in conference competition.

All eight Ivy League teams are in action this weekend. Columbia will look to maintain its conference tournament position at home against Cornell, while Brown looks to emerge from its sixth-place spot in a series against Penn.

Dartmouth and Yale square off in a weekend series between the No. 4 and 5 teams in the conference with major postseason stakes on the line. Princeton will host Harvard in New Jersey in a battle for the top seed in the Ancient Eight.
