HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth softball team is set for its final home series of the 2023 season, as the Big Green take on the Princeton Tigers this weekend. Dartmouth looks to improve its chances of earning a berth to the Ivy League Tournament against the top-seed in the conference.

ONE LAST RIDE IN HANOVER
The Big Green will honor their two seniors,
Maria Angelino and
Kate Farren, prior to Saturday's series-finale. Dartmouth has been anchored throughout the 2023 season by the pair of veterans, who look to finish their final games in Hanover on a high note.
Â
Angelino has served as the team's starting third baseman throughout her senior campaign and has been a positive force for the team on defense. The highlight of her season came against Harvard on April 8, as she led Dartmouth to a walk-off victory in extra innings with an RBI single.
Â
Farren has led the way at shortstop this season and leads the Big Green with a batting average of .313. The 2022 First-Team All-Ivy selection was named the Ivy League Co-Player of the Week on April 17 for her efforts against Brown the previous weekend.
Â
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth last took the field on Tuesday, April 25 against Holy Cross. The Big Green were unable to generate offense throughout most of the afternoon, falling by a score of 2-1.
Â
Rachel McCarroll pitched a complete game, allowing just two runs in a solid performance. The sophomore allowed just five hits and struck out four batters in Dartmouth's final non-conference game of the season.
Â
GOTTA BRING 'EM HOME
In its last five outings, Dartmouth has left a combined 42 runners stranded. The Big Green will look to capitalize on their scoring opportunities throughout their crucial series against Princeton this weekend.
Â
After cutting a six-run deficit to just one, the Big Green put runners on second and third with one away in the top of the seventh against the Bulldogs in the first half of Saturday's doubleheader. Dartmouth was unable to push the equalizing run across, as a pair of flyouts handed the program a 7-5 loss.
Â
In the second half of the twin bill, Dartmouth out-hit Yale 12-7, but left nine runners on base in a close contest. The Big Green once again erased a large deficit but could not bring a runner on first home in the final inning, securing the sweep for Yale.
Â
The Big Green left five runners stranded in a low-scoring outing against Holy Cross on Tuesday, April 25. Dartmouth brought in a runner from scoring position in the top of the first, but were unable to generate offense throughout the rest of the game, falling by a score of 2-1.
Â
SCOUTING PRINCETON
Princeton looks to lock up a regular-season championship and home field advantage for the 2023 Ivy League Tournament this weekend against the Big Green. The Tigers currently hold the top spot in the conference and will look to defend it in Hanover.
Â
The Ancient Eight has struggled to knock Princeton off this season, as the Tigers hold a 14-4 record in conference play. Princeton has won at least two games in every Ivy League series it has played thus far in 2023.
Â
Last weekend, the Tigers staked their claim atop the conference standings, defeating Harvard twice in a three-game series. Princeton swept both games of the series-opening doubleheader on April 21 before the Crimson took the final game of the weekend the following day.
Â
Abby Hornberger (.556) and Serena Starks (.477) hold the best two batting averages in the Ivy League in conference tilts. Hornberger also leads the conference in on base percentage (.636) and trails just Dartmouth's
Kelly Beaupre for the best slugging percentage in the Ancient Eight (.778). Starks leads the conference with 31 hits in 18 conference games.
Â
In the circle, the Tigers are led by Alexis Laudenslager. The senior holds an ERA of 1.16 in conference play, which leads the Ivy League and has won Ivy League Pitcher of the Week honors five times this season.
