VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Rising sophomore
Olivia Galiotos of the Dartmouth field hockey team has been selected for the Senior Nexus Championship, formally known as the Young Women's National Championship. Galiotos is one of 144 elite high school, collegiate and post-collegiate athletes chosen for the event that will take place from July 11-16 in Virginia Beach.
Galiotos was named the Big Green's Defensive Player of the Year as a freshman, also garnering honorable mention All-Ivy recognition. Also recently named to Dartmouth field hockey's leadership council, Galiotos was a center back who started all 17 games and played nearly every minute in 2022. She anchored the back line and a defensive unit that allowed just over two goals per game in Ivy League play.
During the spring and early summer, athletes trialed and trained at one of the seven USA Field Hockey High Performance Centers throughout the country for an opportunity to be selected to the Senior NXC, a step along the Olympic Development Pathway program. The event begins with a training session on Tuesday, July 11 with games starting on the 12th. The opportunity to be selected for the 2023-24 U.S. Women's National Team and Junior USWNT Selection Camps are at stake.
