CAMBRIDGE, Mass.—The Dartmouth field hockey team opened Ivy League play on Friday in Cambridge. The Big Green fell 7-0 to the No. 5 ranked Havard Crimson.
The first quarter yielded no goals as Harvard had eight total shots. Dartmouth netminder Ava Carlson made five saves in the opening 15 minutes. With just under nine minutes left in the quarter she made back-to-back saves to keep the game scoreless.
1:48 into the second quarter, Harvard earned a penalty stroke and scored to make it 1-0. Harvard tallied three more goals in the second quarter to take a 4-0 lead into halftime.
Carlson made nine saves in the first half as Kylie McKinnley took over the cage in the second half.
The Crimson made it 5-0 6:48 into the third quarter and added to their lead with two goals late in the fourth quarter.
McKinley made six saves in the game as Dartmouth had a season high 15 as a team.
Ruby Walsh was credited with the lone shot for the Big Green.
Dartmouth continues a four-game road swing on Sunday, Sept. 21. The Big Green take on granite state rival New Hampshire at 1 PM.
