HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth field hockey team continues its season this weekend, hosting UC Davis on Friday for the program's annual Cancer Awareness Game before traveling to New York to face Columbia on Sunday.
Last Time Out
Dartmouth earned its first Ivy League win since 2023 on Sept. 25, shutting out Penn 4-0 behind goals from
Lilly Venezia, Lucia Campaño and a brace from
Ruby Walsh, with
Kylie McKinley recording the shutout in net. The Big Green followed that with a 0-2 loss to Vermont on Sept. 27, dropping Dartmouth to 2-5 overall and 1-1 in Ivy League play. On the season, Dartmouth is shooting .157 as a team, and
Amelie Luessmann leads the squad with five points on two goals and an assist.
Players to Watch
Amelie Luessmann leads Dartmouth in scoring and has been the Big Green's most consistent finisher, while Walsh's two-goal effort against Penn was a season high and gives Dartmouth another scoring option up front. Campaño and Venezia have each found the net twice this season as well. In goal, McKinley's shutout of Penn was the first of her career, and her play will again be tested against a Columbia attack that has scored in bunches this season.
Scouting UC Davis
The Aggies are 3-6 and have dropped five of their last six, including lopsided losses to Northwestern (0-7) and Stanford (1-4), before rebounding with a 1-0 win over Louisville on Sept. 27. UC Davis is shooting just .140 as a team and has been outshot significantly, 114-57, on the season. Morgan Caldera and Ella Franken share the team lead with four points apiece — Caldera scored twice in the season opener against Central Michigan, while Franken leads the Aggies with 17 shots and 11 shots on goal. In goal, Addy Collingwood has handled most of the workload across two separate stints, posting a save percentage near .70 with one shutout.
Scouting Columbia
The Lions are 4-3 and 1-1 in Ivy play, winners of two of their last three, including a 9-0 rout of LIU that set a program single-game scoring record and a 3-0 win at Brown on Sept. 25. Columbia is hitting .232 as a team against just .167 allowed to opponents, with Jacinta Solari Etcheberry the clear engine of the offense: seven goals, four assists and a team-high 18 points. Izzy Kaczor (five goals, 11 points) and Lizzie Adams (three goals) add scoring depth, while McKenzie Bloom has set up the attack with a team-high four assists. Columbia has also drawn 42 penalty corners on the season, well more than Dartmouth has generated in its own matches.
