THE JOURNEY BEGINS

CALIFORNIA DREAMIN'
Dartmouth last traveled to the Golden State in 2009 as a participant in the San Diego Tournament. The Big Green split the weekend, knocking off host San Diego before falling to No. 18 Loyola Marymount.
The Big Green's combined record in California, dating back to their first trip to the state in 1995, sits at 3-9-4. Dartmouth is 2-2 in its last two outings in the state.
DARTMOUTH MEN'S SOCCER: FAR FROM HOME
Bobby Clark Head Coach of Men's Soccer
Bo Oshoniyi takes his team for its fourth straight season opening road trip. The Big Green have opened their season in North Carolina, Washington, New York and now, California, since 2019.
Last season, Dartmouth opened the season with a pair of tilts against Niagara and Canisius. The Big Green went 1-0-1, knocking off Niagara with a late goal before ending their trip with a scoreless draw against Canisius. Returning goalkeeper
Costi Christodoulou recorded 11 combined saves in a pair of clean sheet performances.
RETURNERS, LEAD THE WAY
Dartmouth welcomes 20 returning student-athletes to The Woods, as an experienced core looks to lead the Big Green to an Ivy League Tournament berth. Sophomore
Oskar Magnusson led all returners in points last season, recording five assists and seven points in his first season in Hanover.
Between the pipes, Dartmouth will be led by junior goalkeeper
Costi Christodoulou. Last season, the South African led the Ivy League in save percentage (.772) and saves per game (4.07) throughout a successful sophomore campaign.
NEW YEAR, NEW FACES
The Big Green introduce seven newcomers to the roster for the 2023 season. Six freshmen,
Alexis Huneau,
Vasilis Moiras, Douglas Arveskär,
Trenton Blake,
Cameron Brayne and
Will Lulka, are joined by
Aidan Curtis, a transfer forward from Amherst.
SCOUTING SAINT MARY'S
Saint Mary's enters Friday's matchup with a 1-1 record, which includes a 5-1 win over Detroit Mercy and a 2-1 loss to Utah Tech. Junior forward Riley Lynch leads the Gaels with six points in the first two contests of the season.
Last season, the Gaels finished with a 7-6-5 record, including a 2-1-4 mark in West Coast Conference (WCC) play. Saint Mary's closed the 2022 season with a .500 record at home.
Friday serves as the first-ever meeting between Dartmouth and Saint Mary's.
SCOUTING CAL
Cal enters the weekend with a 0-0-2 record and are set to host New Jersey's FDU prior to its matchup with Dartmouth. The Bears last battled No. 18 Wake Forest on the road, forcing a 1-1 draw.
Last season Cal finished the season with a 3-8-6 record and a 1-6-3 mark in Pac-12 action.
Dartmouth has faced off with Cal four times, with the first meeting taking place in 1997. The Big Green enter Monday's meeting with a 1-2-1 record against the Bears.
