HANGING OUT IN HANOVER
Dartmouth returns to Burnham Field for a pair of non-conference matchups prior to the start of Ivy League competition. The Big Green are set to take on Stonehill this Saturday before facing off with Merrimack on Tuesday.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green last took the field on the road for a non-conference game against UMass.
Dartmouth found itself in precarious position early following a red card foul and a goal against in the 19
th minute. Despite this early setback, the Big Green battled back with a strong second half, scoring a goal with 3:30 remaining in the game to earn a hard-fought draw against the Minutemen.
Junior goalkeeper
Costi Christodoulou was stellar for the Big Green against UMass. He made six saves, many in crucial situations, to keep his team in the game. Freshman Douglas Arveskär scored the equalizer for his second goal in as many games.
BUILDING THE FOUNDATION AT HOME
The Big Green look to build off a successful home opener last weekend against Holy Cross. Dartmouth knocked off the Crusaders by a score of 3-1, as three different goal scorers found the back of the net in the victory.
Ben Jenkins, Oscar Magnusson and Douglas Arveskär each scored their first goals of the year against Holy Cross, while
Vasilis Moiras,
Tom Collins and
Trenton Blake each registered assists.
SCOUTING STONEHILL
The Skyhawks enter Saturday's matchup with a 1-2-2 record, including an 0-2 mark on the road. Stonehill last took the field on Tuesday, Sept. 12 against Bryant, falling by a score of 4-0.
Stonehill has been led offensively by junior Colin Milliken, who has recorded eight points in just five contests. He opened the 2023 season with a two goal, one assist performance against La Salle.
Last season, Dartmouth dominated its first-ever meeting with Stonehill at home. The Big Green earned a 6-0 victory following five goals in the second half and recorded its largest shutout victory since 2009.
Stonehill's lone victory of the season came against Niagara on Sept. 4 at home. The Skyhawks scored five second half goals to earn a dominant 6-1 decision over the Purple Eagles.
SCOUTING MERRIMACK
Merrimack heads to Hanover with a 1-3-1 record, as the Warriors will take the weekend off prior to the mid-week contest.
Following a 0-3-0 start to the season, Merrimack is 1-0-1 in its last two games. The Warriors earned their first win of the 2023 season against Boston University on Sept. 6 before battling to a 2-2 draw against UMass Lowell on the road.
Merrimack was slated to host Stony Brook at home on Sept. 12, but the contest was canceled.
This Tuesday's matchup between Dartmouth and Merrimack serves as the first-ever meeting between the programs.
