HANOVER, N.H. — Mike Harrity, Dartmouth's Haldeman Family Director of Athletics and Recreation, has announced the hiring of Michelle Truncali as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports. She most recently served as the associate director of strength and conditioning at Notre Dame.
Truncali will co-lead Dartmouth's strength and conditioning department with Holekamp Family Director of Strength and Conditioning Spencer Brown.
"Michelle's commitment to excellence and developing the whole person make her the perfect fit for Dartmouth," Ian Connole, Senior Associate Athletics Director of Peak Performance said. "She will have an immediate positive impact on our Dartmouth Peak Performance team in addition to directly supporting the basketball, volleyball and squash teams as their strength and conditioning coach."
In her most recent role at Notre Dame, Truncali served as the direct manager for full-time assistant strength and conditioning coaches. She also was responsible for all aspects of strength and conditioning for Notre Dame's men's soccer and women's lacrosse programs.
Prior to a promotion in 2021, she was an assistant strength and conditioning coach with the Fighting Irish for three years. Truncali worked with Notre Dame's volleyball, men's golf and baseball programs and served as the coordinator for the department's internship program.
While in South Bend, Indiana, Truncali made an impact outside of her duties in the strength and conditioning department. She created an athletics advocacy group for LGBTQAI+ student-athletes and was a member of Notre Dame's Athletics Inclusion and Diversity Board.
Before arriving at Notre Dame, Truncali spent time as the assistant director of strength and conditioning at Marshall University, where she covered strength and conditioning duties for the women's basketball, men's soccer and tennis programs. She also gathered experience at Belmont University, UNC Chapel Hill and UConn in various roles.
Truncali earned a Bachelor of Science in exercise science with a minor in psychology from Endicott College. She went on to earn a Master of Science in sport administration from Belmont University and a master's of high performance sport from Australian Catholic University. Truncali is certified through the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCa), Reflexive Performance Reset (RPR) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
Truncali started in her new role with the Big Green on Monday, Aug. 28.
