Getting Started
Dartmouth Peak Performance (DP2) is a comprehensive program designed to position student-athletes to achieve the highest levels of physical, intellectual, and personal growth during their careers at Dartmouth. Our collaborative approach is centered on providing the premier student-athlete experience through promoting holistic development, driving a championship culture, and building leaders for life.
DP2 serves as an umbrella for the integration of services and resources to help Big Green student-athletes pursue excellence in all areas of their lives. We take pride in helping people win on and off the proverbial playing fields, but our ultimate goal is to use the opportunities we have through sport to help our Dartmouth student-athletes build skills, habits, values, and relationships that last far longer than their years in a Dartmouth uniform.
Getting Started with DP2:
ACADEMIC SUPPORT: Stacey Bridges, Assistant Athletics Director for DP2 Academics, can assist you with academic advising, course selection discussions, study skill/time management development, D-planning, and connecting you with campus resources. You can reach out to her via email at Stacey.M.Bridges@dartmouth.edu or schedule an appointment with her using this link: https://DP2.as.me/Bridges
CAREER DEVELOPMENT: DP2 works closely with The Center for Professional Development (CPD) to tailor career support to Varsity student-athlete needs and help to maximize the skills built as an athlete as career advantages. The CPD can assist with exploring career interests, identifying strengths and opportunities, applying for jobs and internships, preparing for interviews, and learning about the professional world. All student-athletes are encouraged to log into Handshake system and create a profile. Handshake provides access to CPD workshops, coaching appointments, how-to guides, and internship resources, as well as targeted invitations to employer events/opportunities that may match students' unique interests.
LEADERSHIP AND MENTAL PERFORMANCE: The DP2 Leadership & Mental Performance Staff work with student-athletes, coaches, and teams to provide proactive mental training, team building and leadership development. Student-athletes can schedule with either of DP2’s Leadership & Mental Performance Coaches:
Lorna Harkins, MSc, Corrigan Family Assistant Athletics Director for Leadership & Mental Performance
Schedule here: https://DP2.as.me/Lorna
Ian Connole, PhD, CMPC, Senior Associate Athletics Director for Peak Performance
Schedule here: https://DP2.as.me/Connole
Dartmouth Athletics supports the full spectrum of student-athlete needs — from mental health to mental performance — through two specialized service areas: Sport and Counseling Psychology, and Leadership and Mental Performance. By ensuring a foundation of mental health care is in place by the Sport and Counseling Psychology staff, this structure allows professionals like Connole and Harkins to focus their expertise on team and culture building, resilience and mental skills training through targeted support for individuals, groups and staff.
SPORT & COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY: The DP2 Sport & Counseling Psychology program provides comprehensive psychological services for student athletes to promote mental health, wellness, and performance excellence. The program is part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary relationship between DP2 and the Dartmouth College Counseling Center with a mission to provide high quality, inclusive, and culturally sensitive care to student-athletes. In addition to team consultations, DP2's Sport Psychologist, Dr. Mark Hiatt provides confidential, individual counseling and performance consultations focusing on whatever performance, wellness, or mental health topics are most relevant to the student-athletes. Please call Dartmouth College Counseling Center at 603.646.9442 to make an appointment. Student-athletes can request to make an individual DP2 appointment with Dr. Hiatt, or a counseling appointment with any of the fourteen other counselors and two psychiatrists. Dr. Hiatt and his counseling colleagues are located at the Dartmouth College Counseling Center on the 2nd floor of Dick Hall's House, 7 Rope Ferry Road, Hanover, NH 03755.
All Dartmouth students also have access to virtual counseling through UWill Teletherapy. All services are provided free to currently enrolled Dartmouth student-athletes.
